Planning for an organization’s security needs during new construction and renovation has become an increasingly critical effort, and its complexity often requires security consulting expertise. PSCG’s physical security system design process begins with the client conference, to determine the requirements and scope of the project. Once the scope of work is identified, we will provide a design package that often includes the following elements:
PSCG performs a site survey and examination of existing conditions. In addition to the site survey, PSCG will obtain a CAP Index crime risk forecasting report and maps that combine demographic statistics and actual crime data to measure a neighborhood’s “social disorganization. Based on these findings, PSCG prepares recommendations for improvements to your physical security program.
This final step in the design process includes the production of a coordinated set of contract documents and drawings that can be used to solicit for competitive bids.
A “Basis for Design” document is prepared for the client that outlines the security design in detail. This document often includes system descriptions, high-level budgets and conceptual drawings.
PSCG can also assist our clients with the selection of qualified vendors, conducting pre-bid vendor conferences, and review of bids to ensure the client receives competitive pricing.
In this stage, PSCG will place device locations on AutoCAD background drawings, develop riser diagrams and installation detail drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates that can be used as a complete set of construction documents. Coordination among disciplines (i.e. electrical engineers, architects, IT professionals, door hardware) is also done during this stage of the process.
PSCG represents the client throughout the implementation phase of the project. We help confirm conformance of installation to the contract documents through kick-off and progress meetings, site inspections, submittal reviews, RFI research and response, acceptance testing and preparation of record documents.
INTEGRATED DESIGN
Integrated Security System Design Philosophy
PSCG utilizes the “Integrated Design Philosophy” in every design. This philosophy establishes security through the integration of electronic systems with architectural elements, enhanced by security staff and procedures. When the integration of these elements is effectively executed, a concerted effort is created that meets the required level of security.

Physical
Architectural security measures that include items such as perimeter barriers, exterior lighting, and control barriers.
Technical
Electronic security measures which address items such as automated access control, emergency call boxes, closed circuit television, intercom, etc.
Operational
Personnel security measures implemented to adequately staff the facility with trained security personnel and to modify human behavior through security policy and procedure improvements and direction.
Integrated Design Services Includes the Following:

Access Control Systems

Video Surveillance Systems

Intrusion Detection Systems

Security Intercom Systems

Local and Global Command Centers

Perimeter Security Fencing/Gate/Barrier
EXISTING SYSTEMS
For clients with existing systems, PSCG can assist with implementation of new systems; upgrading of existing systems; standardization of systems, devices and installations; and integration of security systems.
PSCG design services clientele includes pharmaceutical companies, electrical and water utilities, K-12 schools, architectural and engineering firms, and property management companies throughout the United States. Our experience proves that when security is an integral part of the overall design process, it functions better, looks better and is less expensive than security that is added as an afterthought.
PSCG is not affiliated with security system vendors, security component manufacturers, or other security industry service providers. As such, PSCG works solely in the best interests of its clients with no allegiances to third-party products or services.
